Elaine Tomlinson Corum is a writer and a teacher who lives in El Paso, Arkansas with her husband Steve and their animal menagerie.  Her writing interests include writing to heal, telling family stories, and writing memoir. 

She will graduate in August from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a Masters degree in Liberal Studies.  Her concentrations are rhetoric and writing and gerontology.  She recently presented her thesis, a cycle of non-fiction stories, "Through the Valley of the Shadow: A Journey of Commemoration and Healing" at the UALR Graduate Student Research Forum and at the UALR Liberal Studies Forum.  Elaine has also won awards for several of her short stories including "Harry's Grainger's Lucky Day," "Good Girls," and "No Turning Back." 

Elaine also hold a Masters degree is educational psychology from the University of Tennessee.  In addition to her current writing and teaching career, she has worked as a management consultant, career coach, and training manager for companies including Exxon Co. USA, Avon, Bank of America, and Tenneco Oil. 

Elaine's current interests include helping adults find ways of commemorating their lives and  the lives of their families as well as helping individuals find ways to use their writing for personal healing.  She is currently working on a book of family stories called Through the Valley of the Shadow.

Elaine is a native of Georgia, and her husband, Steve, is a Texan.  They and their two cats and two dogs, Lila, B.H., Bao, and Kelly, spend most of the year at their home in rural White County Arkansas.
